In a Construction Project Manager position you will take charge of planning, managing, and overseeing the construction and building process necessary to complete different types of construction projects from start to finish. Like many project manager professionals or project manager jobs, you will be tasked with planning, developing, and adhering to a budget, acquiring required permits, and working in tandem with employees, construction workers, and various subcontractors to ensure you meet clients’ goals.

Construction Project Manager Roles and Responsibilities

Work closely and collaboratively with all the workers responsible for ensuring a project is completed to client standards, including engineers, architects, and construction workers, among others. Prepare budget and cost estimates for the entire project. Prepare and adhere to project timelines. Understand and comply with legal requirements including building, zoning, and safety codes, and acquire necessary permits to do the needed work. Vet, bid, and choose the subcontractors who work on various projects and clearly delegate their roles and responsibilities from project start to finish. Work to address or alleviate any emergencies, delays, or other issues liable to arise from project-to-project. Serve as a key point of contact with clients, providing them with regular progress and budget reports while explaining various facets of the project to them in an easy-to-understand manner.
